Had the honor dining here this past Thursday with some friends. Sat up at the chef counter, was amazing to watch all the action. The care and love they were putting into each dish clearly visible.
We opted for the tasting menu. It was outstanding! The wine pairings were brilliant, perfect. Service outstanding!
This is a bold statement, but it was the most perfect dining eperience EVER! Every course was 10/10.
We kept seeing all this delicious stuff coming out and burgers looked popular. The chefs must have heard us talking about them.. so they surprised with a bonus burger course! They are the best!! They even sent us tiny taste of the Duck they serve!
The wines were so unique and amazing. Our waiter was awesome. He left a few bottles for us to finish off.
You must eat here. Must.
Enjoy the pics. Food looks beautiful, but taste even better. -

Probably the worst restaurant experience I've had in DC that I can remember. We ordered two cocktails, the scallop crudo, and the clams to start. The crudo was amazing; the clams were awful. One cocktail was great; they somehow butchered a dirty martini. The lamb was also good but in the end it didn't matter...
Because the worst part was the service - our waiter was not only unfriendly, but also inattentive. He took the clams back but left it on our bill. Our drinks were empty and no one bothered to ask us if we wanted more. Waiting for our check was like watching paint dry. I can empathize with a waiter who has a big section on a Friday night but it wasn't even busy and he wasn't even nice.
Save your time. Save your money. There are 200 better restaurants in DC with super friendly and welcoming service. -

I would give this a 4.5 if possible.
Highlights:
- The space: we sat at the counter and had a really fun time watching everything being cooked. There is also a wonderful looking patio. The restaurant is the perfect size. Not gigantic like a lot of dc spaces, but still spacious and airy. You aren't on top of each other and the minimalist design is a welcome and a refreshing change of pace from the dark wood standard of Georgetown.
- Scallop crudo with dill: excellent starter, but definitely small.
- the burger was excellent. But there are better gourmet burgers out there. Definitely order though, maybe as an app to share rather than a meal.
Other:
- the lamb was fine, but certainly not memorable.
If I go again, I would definitely order either the duck or ribeye to share. They both looked excellent, but at $115ish a piece, I was not hungry enough to justify that much meat for two people. -

Was very excited to try Reverie, and after putting it off for so long (ugh Georgetown), finally made it in. Overall, the meal was good, but not as great as I had hoped. Everything was good, but there were only a few standouts.
Great dishes - scallops and dill (although a very small portion), spring peas, roe agnolotti, carolina gold rice. Not sure what my favorite was, it was down to the agnolotti and rice - both were rich and delicious.
Good - sweetbreads (cooked well, but lacked flavor), bread and cultured butter, burger (would be amazing if there was a second patty - the ratio was off), kanpachi collar (hard to eat), the birch ice cream dessert, and...the duck. While tasty, the portion is huge and there's only so much fatty duck breast I can eat. The katsu confit side didn't help, and was also a bit dry. The shaved fennel salad did help to cut through a bit, but we had a lot left over at the end.
Loved sitting at the counter and interacting with the chefs (Johnny was not there though) and watching all the food come out. But it was hot. And service was slow at times/there were big gaps between courses. And water refills were slow and got worse as the meal progressed.
Overall a pretty decent meal, I'll come back for the tasting menu sometime, but in no rush at this point. -

TLDR: Agnolotti- holy mother forking shirtballs. That was delicious beyond delicious. Bought a second order. Shared none of it.
Long form: Came here for a birthday dinner and sat at the chefs table.
Loved watching the chefs work! The food was spectacular as expected and the drinks were pretty epic too.
Was served sparkling rosé to start as a complement!!
We shared pretty much everything on the menu rather than doing the tasting menus as it would end up costing about the same but we would get more options this way. Granted that sadly meant we did not have a chance to try the standout duck but the two orders of agnolotti more than made up for it.
